The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) has approved a loan of up to €50 million to support the liquidity of Kyiv's municipal enterprise "Kyivteploenergo". The loan is aimed at meeting the critical needs of the utility company amid the war, ensuring the uninterrupted provision of municipal services to residents and businesses in the city. The loan obligations will be partially secured by a guarantee from the European Union to cover initial losses due to high security risks. The main goal of the financing is to maintain stable heating supply for schools, kindergartens, hospitals, residential areas, and commercial enterprises. The project is part of a broader EBRD program to ensure resilience and livelihoods, including the development of urban services for Ukrainian veterans and their families. "Kyivteploenergo" plans to use the funds to purchase and install cogeneration units in Kyiv.
